BookmarkVault — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how BookmarkVault ("the Extension", "we", "our") handles your information when you use our Chrome browser extension.

1. Information We Collect

BookmarkVault collects only the data strictly necessary to provide its core functionality:

• Bookmarks you save: URL, page title, favicon, folder hierarchy, save date, and any reminder dates you set.
• Your Google account email: Used solely to display your identity within the Extension after authentication.
• Authentication tokens: Issued by Google to access Google Drive and Google Calendar on your behalf. Stored locally in your browser only.

2. Where Your Data Is Stored

We do not operate any server. Your bookmark data is stored:

• In your own Google Drive, in a private hidden folder called appDataFolder, readable only by BookmarkVault.
• Locally in your browser's storage for offline access and performance.
• Calendar reminders you create are stored in your own Google Calendar — we never copy or hold them.

Your bookmarks and reminders belong to you. You can revoke our access at any time via your Google Account permissions.

3. Why We Use Google Calendar Access

BookmarkVault uses the Google Calendar API solely to create reminder events when you explicitly request them via the "Remind me" feature on a bookmark.

• We only create events you explicitly request, one at a time.
• We do not read your existing calendar events.
• We do not modify or delete any events we did not create.
• We do not share reminder data with any third party.

Calendar reminders include the bookmark title, URL, your optional note, and the date/time you set. They appear in your primary Google Calendar with a popup reminder 10 minutes before, and an email reminder 1 hour before.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your browsing history.
• We do not track which pages you visit.
• We do not use analytics or telemetry.
• We do not display ads.
• We do not sell, share, or transmit your data to any third party.

5. Third-Party Services

BookmarkVault uses the following Google APIs strictly for the functionality you authorize:

• Google Drive API (scope: drive.appdata): To save and sync your bookmarks file in your private appDataFolder.
• Google Calendar API (scope: calendar.events): To create reminder events you explicitly request.
• Google OAuth 2.0 (scope: userinfo.email): To authenticate you securely and display your email.
• Google's favicon service: To display website icons next to bookmarks (no personal data is sent).

Google's own privacy policy applies to data processed by these services: policies.google.com/privacy.

BookmarkVault's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights at any time:

• Access: Your bookmarks file is in your own Drive in appDataFolder. Calendar reminders are in your Calendar.
• Deletion: Uninstall the Extension and revoke its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Your data file in appDataFolder will be permanently deleted by Google.
• Portability: Your data is in standard JSON format. We can provide an export tool on request.

7. Children's Privacy

BookmarkVault is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the Extension or Chrome Web Store listing.
